I used to love this game but now the ads are just too much!

Had this app since like 2010, played it daily. Over the years accumulated a score in the top 10 globally. At some point the ads became unbearable. I found a workaround where if I played it without wifi, the ads weren’t as obtrusive – they were all silent and easily closed with no minimum viewing time limit. The most recent update has rendered my workaround useless. I won’t sit through an ad after every round, especially when you can’t easily close them. Unfortunately I won’t be playing any longer. Profoundly disappointed.

I have played this game for over a decade, but the ads have become so horrible I can’t take it any more. You have to watch an ad between every round and the ads takes more time than the round itself. Sometimes it won’t even give you an option to x out of an ad and you have to restart the entire app to get back to the game (and watch another ad). I’m so disappointed to not be able to play the game I have loved for so long.

Re-loaded this game yesterday and now I remember why I deleted it previously….too many ads. You ruined a perfectly good game and there is no option to pay a small one -time fee to remove ads. 😡

New update does not proceed to the next level.

Yesterday this started. After the game ends it will not advance. Blank screen on lower half. No controls to continue.

The most recent update fixed the problems I wrote about in my earlier review and improved the game: it now waits after a round is over so you can see what words you missed. Thanks to the developers for responding to concerns.

This version has some good stuff going for it. I like that I can see the answer for a hint during the round, for example. However, my problem is that it’s not sensitive enough when I select a letter. I go pretty fast, and often times I see the letter blink like it knows it was selected but the letter doesn’t get added to the answer field. It gets so irritating that I have to quit and go back to the original on an ancient iPod have.

I paid for this years ago to eliminate the ads and enjoyed the game. However, apparently that doesn’t matter since there are ads after every single game. What gives with all the ads and I play the game on silent and you still allow ads to play the words or music!! Yes, I can hit the button to stop the music on some of the ads but often there is no button to mute it. And don’t ask me to tell you which ads do this. You should know! Or better yet, play the game yourself and see how annoying the ads are…you’re the developer of this game.

I’ve been playing this game for years but lately the ads are just too much, and some of them force you to actually play a demo or they won’t go away. Is there a premium version with no ads? Otherwise I’m deleting this

Good but could be better December 08, 20247:15 am USA, Eastern; Three stars I've been playing this game since 2017 and prefer it over any other word game. Mainly it's because it gets right to the game without annoying contests, pop ups, or other intrusive machinations. The downside is the programming is kludgy. We can't replace 'one' letter without tapping to remove all the letters after it. There is no way to drag letters. I asked for these features years ago BTW. There is no Recall button and the End game button is too big. I have hit it accidentally too many times over the years.. I also requested these changes years ago. My first priority would be additional background colors that complement each other better and are more 3D looking. The current ones bother my eyes. It would be nice if the sounds were different for using a repeat word from a wrong word from a successful word. About the Ads after every game another reviewer noted; To all developers for all games, you don't need to run ads after every game. You can program them to run every two to three games. Nobody clicks on them because they are more frequent. For me, it ticks me off and I ignore all of them. So you are not making money that way. Sent from my iPad, No carrier.

This has been the most ridiculous amount of ads of any download I have ever done. It’s just not that great of a game to have to deal with that much extra stuff. After reading through some of the other reviews, it is obvious that the developers of this must have a single digit IQ. Not listening to that Many people about an issue is a problem. Fortunately, I do not have anything else by just developer download it, otherwise, I would delete it. I am also going to post this anywhere. I can find a link on social media. I got your reply. The link to contact you is dead. Anyway, the amount and duration of ads for your app is ridiculous. Look at how many comments about that are posted. I know of no others nearly this ridiculous. Next worst is less than half.

How do I get rid of the adds? I have used for years and like the app, but frustrated with ads. If there is no way to get rid of them, I will delete the app.

I accidentally discovered that if you tap on a blank space, a pop up appears with the definition of the word that belongs in that space I’d just completed placing the word ‘oft’ and tapped the word to look up its meaning but accidentally tap the blank space above and the definition for ‘ore’ popped up. What the heck?! I tapped other blank spaces and those words popped up. This, coupled with the fact that I purchased this app years ago but ads appeared after a few years convinced me to find a different word app.

I’ve given up on this game. I have tried several times, but it keeps getting stuck on ads. The developer contacted me and asked me to tell them which ads are getting stuck. I have no time for this. I’d stay away from this one. Too bad, the app used to be good, but it’s worthless now.

Used to really like to play this game. There’s an ad on there now that locks up every time it comes on the screen. I have to wait and wait and turn off my phone and then wait again to get it to go off. After playing the game for five or six times it comes up again. Not worth the headache.

I love this app but haven’t played it in several years because of the ads. It’s really impossible to play since every two minutes there is an ad that is very hard to close. I give up after just one game as the ad takes longer than the game. Please, please offer a paid version without ads.

Ads should not be longer than the game.

I rediscovered this old favorite game after several years away. I’m not anti-ad, but even with my audio settings set to mute, there are some days ads play after every round and with full sound. It’s gotten pretty annoying and may chase me off again.

Longtime user who desperately wants an ad free version and would pay

I’ve had this app on my phone probably longer than any other, at least 10 years. It is simple and even though I was willing to pay for the upgrade, it wasn’t the same app without ads; it was a completely different app. So there is no way to get rid of ads. Instead of an ad after 3-5 turns like it started, there is now an ad after every turn. I rarely play anymore due to the annoying ads. The app works well. The developer has made some minor enhancements but not any big changes in years. Response to your response: the game owners (not the original developer as it was sold to mobilityware several years ago) have posted the same response to every critical review for the past 5 years and have turned deaf ears to the players of this game. I have earned every badge offered but I’m ready to look for a new game.

The ads make it almost unplayable for more then a few rounds. Having to watch an ad in between each round quickly becomes tedious. I would happily pay a few bucks to get rid of them as I love this game. I wish there was some kind of option to do that. Otherwise, it would easily be a solid five stars.

You have to completely turn off all phone sounds every single time or you will be deafened from the ads. The constant promises of this being fixed never happens and never will. It’s not relaxing but instead quite stressful. The multiple ads are BLARING, very long and very difficult to stop. I have to shut the app and restart every time. Don’t download this unless you want to be advertised to constantly (more than you will ever play).

I like the game, but there are too many ads. I like playing, but there is an ad that lasts for ever between each game. It seems there have been more and more ads as you play. If you download the app being advertised you invite more ads. It is becoming so annoying I am considering removing the game from my phone.

Not only does the Temu ad NEVER CLOSE or have a “ close” key it never times out. Even when I completely close the game then reopen it pops up again. I’ve tried opting out through (arrow) which is google comments on ads but sends you right back into it. Love the game, can even tolerate the other stupid ads ( after EVERY game) but this basically STOPS you from playing so sad

This game is simple and basic and awesome. It’s the best app for a flight or to kill time. But…. There is no paid version to remove the ads. AND the ads are ridiculous. With false close buttons and loud alerts and confusing hidden skip buttons. I’ll be uninstalling because of the ads.

Last longer than the game and there really is no way to exit them it’s frustrating

Since the last update the game freezes regularly. It is completely non-responsive. You have to close it and relaunch. But when you do it often serves a PREVIOUS game you played at some point before you finished it. It does not usually take you back to the game you were playing when it froze. Very irritating. If it continues I’m outta here. FIX IT. I’m using the latest iOS on an iPhone 11

Ads are way too long now, can’t get out of them. They continue to show you the game, then moves to get the game through Apple, then the AD repeats this all over again and again and again and again! It doesn’t stop. This is a great game but you need to fix this. VERY ANNOYING, VERY ANNOYING, VERY ANNOYING, VERY ANNOYING, VERY ANNOYING, Get it????

Hard to play the game when the ad refuses to go away.

I enjoy this game. It’s simple and free, which is probably why the developers are so eager to use trackers to feed data to their ad sponsors. I was upset to realize that this app completely disregards the “do not allow tracking” switch in the iPhone settings. I notice weirdly written ads that are definitely based on my web search history. I turned on Apple Privacy Report and played the game for two minutes. In just TWO minutes, the app had contacted 65 trackers including Google’s tracking data. I’ve played the game for years, but I don’t feel ok continuing to play a word scramble game that grabs this much data from me.

The credit karma ad on this game gets stuck in your search engine and won’t let you do anything else. they need to be reported to Apple. I’m just not sure how to do that.

Endless advertisements, can’t even get back to playing the game

I like the game & play it a lot but lately the ads freeze and I have to shut down my phone and restart it. Very frustrating so I play other games.

I have loved this game for years but have not been able to use it over the past few months as a screen wanting me to invite friends to play pops up & prevents me from accessing the game. I don 't want to invite friends to play but I can't get rid of that screen. Is there any fix for this? I would give this game 5 stars except for this problem. Thanks! Eileen

I loved this game-until the WMT ads started showing phallic pictures and nudes. I won’t use it again!

The ads are getting ridiculous. At least add an option to pay to remove ads.

I paid for an ad free version when I downloaded this app several years ago. Now I get ads between EVERY game. Please bring back the ad free option!

More ads than playing time. My time is worth more that this game.

What upgrades? This is 2023 and it seems to still have problems from earlier comments. We enjoy your app, if it lets us play. It seems to be obsessed or possibly possessed with commercials. If it does let us play a game, we then have to endure a series of game demo ads that are inescapable. Even ads for games that we downloaded in the hope that they would go away. We would gladly subscribe to an ad-free version. More so-called updates are needed. I’d rate the app at four plus stars, but the annoying advertising tactic gets a minimum star rating.

I paid for an ad-free version years ago and for awhile, recently, I had it back. Whatever happened to revert it to the ad version? You don’t seem to offer it again.

This used to be the best app. Now the advertisements have take over. Multiple ads per round of the game, you cannot find a way out, you have to close the app completely to get the ad to disappear, the mute setting does not work, totally ridiculous. I would never ever consider another app from mobility ware.

The game is great, but wow the ads are horrible. Turn the app’s data off in the phone’s settings and only play when you’re not on wifi and you can just click through without getting your ears blown out or watching some candy crush knockoff.

Used to love this game. Now there is an ad after every puzzle - that’s one ad every 1 1/2 minutes! This is crazy. Talk about a waste of time. Don’t bother. There are lots of other puzzle games out there.

I like this game A LOT, and play it many times a day. But…there are a lot of words that should be, yet are not, there. A lot of singular versions of words are missing where the plural meaning is part of the puzzle. I just completed a puzzle where TURBO was not a word…TURBO!! Just fix your glaring and obvious shortcomings and this will be a better game.

Loved this app and have played it for years. However, recently some of the ads that run never shut down. Have to close the app to get rid of them. Disney was the biggest problem but there are others now. What a game breaker! Too bad. It is a good game but very frustrating and will probably delete it if this continues!
